Berenice

Berenice is a little know amazing place on the Red Sea coast close to the border with Sudan. The nearest airport is Marsa Alam and from there it takes more than 3 hours to reach Berenice. The landscape during the ride is very suggestive: the desert on sone side and the sea on the other side.

We spent 10 days at the Wadi Lahmy Azur Resort, a well-organized structure with nice and comfortable rooms. In the nearby of the resort there is nothing but the desert and the sea. The only negative aspect is the food, but we were prepared to it. The strength of the resort is the beach and the reef which is incredibly amazing. There’s a long pier that goes straight to the reef and before there is the access to a natural swimming pool with an incredible crystal clear water, house of many fishes and corals. Meeting turtles, barracuda and morays is not uncommon.

Even if Berenice is far from the most touristic places such as Marsa Alam and Sharm El Sheik, there are a lot of excursions that can be done and we chose Sharm el Luly, white Islands of Berenice, Sataya and obviously a sunset-ride in the desert with the quad.

Sharm el Luly is an amazing white sand beach with a wonderful reef. You can enjoy the time doing snorkeling (we met a couple of turtles) and sunbathing in the water.

Sataya is the house of hundred of dolphins and you will probably have the opportunity to swim with them. An incredible adventure!

White islands of Berenice are virgin and unknown island in the middle of the sea. Some of them are protected are and are not accessible. Snorkeling and sunbathing on one of these amazing islands are the main activities of the excursion.

We enjoyed a lot our holiday in Berenice and by the end of the days we had legs and arms ache due to the many hours spent snorkeling and swimming. The reef is relay amazing and uncontaminated and there is always something new to be discovered underwater.

Stay tuned…the best is yet to come!
